£120k Gym Revamp Bring in Members
Posted: 19th April 2023More than 120 new members have joined our community gym since £120,000 of improvements were carried out.
The gym has undergone a complete overhaul, including new flooring, new mirrors, LED lighting, electrical repairs and decorating.
Equipment has also been updated to suit modern needs.
The centre became part of BMAT Education when Mark Hall Academy joined the family of schools in 2021.
As a result, Your Community Sports & Leisure was set up by the Trust as a trading arm to focus on the facilities and others within all schools.
Since the revamp was carried out, more than 120 new members have signed up to become members.
David Hull, sports and facilities manager, said: “The equipment at the gym was seven years old and needed updating to provide a better user experience. We have carefully chosen multi-use equipment, design and layout to enhance usability of the gym. The new layout allows for wider demographics and includes a large free weights area.
“We have had great, positive feedback from members.”
Year 11 students at Mark Hall Academy are now using the gym as part of their curriculum.
Robert Halfon MP said: “The redevelopment of the gym at Mark Hall Sports Centre is fantastic news.
“This investment is good for the school, good news for members and good news for local residents.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has worked so hard to deliver on the upgrades and contributed to turning this project into a reality.”
